X

Text posts, and up to four images or one video — never both in the same post.

An isometric drawing of two low discs. A small flat card rests on the left one; a single chain link many times its size stands on the right one.

What Duta sends today

Duta posts plain text to X, or up to a handful of photos, or a single video. X will not accept photos and a video together, so Duta refuses a mixed post before it can be scheduled rather than dropping half of it.

A post can carry a link. X counts a link as a fixed number of characters no matter how long it really is — see the limits below.

The real limits

Read from the same adapter Duta's compose screen checks a post against — not typed out separately, so this cannot say something the product does not actually enforce.

Text and media limits for X
TextUp to 280 characters
Media requiredNo
PhotosUp to 4 per post, 5 MB each
VideoUp to 512 MB, up to 2 min 20 sec, at least 0.5 sec, video/mp4 only

Worth knowing

  • X charges Duta for every post sent through its API, and a post carrying a link costs far more than one without — Duta prices this while you are still typing and offers to move the link into the first reply instead of the post itself.
  • Video goes up in pieces and is only counted as posted once X has finished processing it, so a slow upload continues on the next attempt rather than starting over.
  • Alt text works on photos and GIFs. X's own upload API does not document a way to attach one to video, so a video posted to X carries no description for a screen reader.
